Tech Pack of Knitwear

Today, we are going to talk about the tech packs of knitwear.

1.What is a tech pack?

Tech Pack, also known as specification sheets, is a set of documents created by designers to explain their design to a manufacturer so that they can turn this information into a finished garment. It serves as a blueprint of a final garment that includes information like detailed flat sketches of the design, materials to be used like trims and labels, measurement specs, size gradings, colorways, etc.

2.What elements should a tech pack contain?

Before sampling, we will receive tech pack or sketch from customer.

We see different tech packs. Some are very professional while some are really simple.

As a professional knitwear supplier and producer, we want to get below information in teck pack.

①Style info with Style No or Style Name

We can know from style info, it is a knitted pullover or knitted cardigan or knitted vest etc.

Style No or style name, it is very important when communicate the details, we can know exactly which one we are talking about especially when there are lots of styles in one season.

②Yarn composition, Gauge, yarn count and color

Some sustainable yarns like organic cotton or lenzing viscose may have no stock service. It may not affect sample time, but may affect bulk lead time,so need to clear which composition to use. And the gauge and yarn count decide the look appearance, handfeel, and weight. Weigh will affect the cost.

③Season

We would like to know which season you will sell it. So we can give the professional suggestions on gauge, yarn ends, lead time, etc.

④Workmanship

We need to learn from tech pack about the workmanship, like jersey knitting, jacquard knitting, rib knitting etc.

For the neck, shape with which workmanship, rib or full needle or others. And if choose rib, need to show 1×1 or 2×2 or others.

For the cuff, shape with which workmanship, rib or start with itself. And if choose rib, need to show 1×1 or 2×2 or others.

For the bottom hem, shape with which workmanship, rib or start with itself. And if choose rib, need to show 1×1 or 2×2 or others.

If you don’t know exactly which pattern it is, you can put a reference photo.

⑤Measurements Chart with measure method

We do workmanship according to the measurements. Different customers have different standard.

So it’s better to show the measure method as your required to avoid any mistake.
